Porcelain Inlays & Onlays
Conservative Porcelain Restorations for Damaged Teeth
When tooth decay damages enamel beyond the reach of a filling, do you have to get a full crown? Not necessarily. In many cases, we can place a porcelain inlay or onlay, also known as a partial crown. These conservative options allow you to keep more of your natural tooth structure while restoring your tooth to optimal form and function.
Inlays and onlays are handcrafted in a dental lab, just like crowns. However, they do not encompass the entirety of the tooth. Instead, they rest either between the cusps (inlay) or cover the topmost portion of the tooth (onlay). The porcelain used will be matched precisely for natural-looking results, and the porcelain will resist stains and add strength to your tooth.
